Notes: Officers of the Shannon's Naval Brigade First Party, left ship August 18, 1857. Included: Capt Thomas Carstairs Gray, Lieut William Stirling, plus 54 NCOs and Privates. Thomas Langston, RM was invalided (GSW below left Malleous, fleshy) and Lieut Stirling (GSW calf of leg) and Richard Kelly, RMA (GSW through femoral artery) were killed at Khujwa on 1 Nov 1857. NOTE: In Apr 2021 the inscription was almost totally faded, details are from the Memorials of Portsmouth website.
